Vans recently invited us to tour the facilities of long-running furniture maker Modernica in Downtown Los Angeles recently for a first look at their upcoming collaboration via the brand’s Vault By Vans line.
Together, they created a capsule of both footwear and furniture honoring their timeless heritage in design and craftsmanship. Utilizing Vans’ iconic footwear designs, we seen a range of classic sneaker silhouettes created to match Modernica’s iconic iconic fiberglass shell chair, each custom-printed with Vans’ archival patterns and made in a limited run.
Specifically, Vans and Modernica chose the beloved Hawaiian palm leaf motif, along with classic all-over checkerboard patterns, using on the chair and artfully-crafted renditions of the Style 36 LX and OG Slip-On LX.
The Style 36 LX is done in brown leather, highlighted by three Vans patterns, including a vibrant orange Hawaiian print, a light blue repeat palm leaf, and a classic black and white checkerboard. Each colorway is crafted with a tonal checkered genuine leather tongue, suede toe panel, leather Flying V and heel counter. Similarly, the OG Classic Slip-On LX is available in the corresponding patterns and colorways and features leather and suede on the vamps and heel counters.
There’s three executions of the Vault by Vans x Modernica fiberglass shell chair.
The Vault by Vans x Modernica collection will be available on Feb. 23. For more info, visit Vans.com/Vault.
