The Social Status x Air Jordan VI ‘Black Cat’ Set to Release All-Star Weekend

Social Status x Air Jordan VI "Black Cat"

This year’s NBA All-Star festivities will be taking place at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC from Feb. 15-17. So, you know what that means? The All-Star themed sneaker rollouts are beginning to make their way throughout social media and the internet. This year’s standout sneaker release comes in the form of the Social Status x Air Jordan VI.

For those of you unaware of the presence of Social Status, Social Status is a highly-popularized sneaker/streetwear retailer located in the midst of Charlotte. The sneaker retailer sells products from popular brands like BAPE, OFF-WHITE, Nike, and more. And now, Social Status is teaming up with the Jumpman to release their very own collaborative sneaker come NBA All-Star weekend.

Breaking Down the Social Status x Air Jordan VI

The Social Status x Air Jordan VI is inspired by Michael Jordan’s alter ego, the ‘Black Cat’, and is an ode to Mike surviving the concrete jungle and earning his first NBA Championship in 1991. Throughout the 1991 NBA Finals, Michael Jordan laced up the legendary Air Jordan VI ‘Infrared.’

The Social Status x Air Jordan VI ‘Black Cat’ features a black faux snakeskin base complete with matching black pony hair overlays. The pony hair overlays hit the toebox, stabilizing quarter panels, and heel of the silhouette. ‘Dark Concor’ accents hit the midsole, heel tab, lace locks, and Jumpman outsole logo of the sneaker. The sneaker is then closed out by a partially translucent icy outsole.

Overall, the Social Status x Air Jordan VI ‘Black Cat’ was well-executed by the sneaker’s designers and producers. The sneaker’s usage of different textures and materials helps the silhouette appeal to both sexes. As sneaker enthusiasts, we’re positive the Social Status x Air Jordan VI will find its way to the feet of both men and women around the globe.
