Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor Mcgregor met face to face for first time in a press conference taken place in New York this week, ahead of their anticipated fight at UFC 229 — one of the biggest events in the history of the sport.
As expected, Mcgregor wasn’t shying away from the moment. “I just thank the Lord Jesus Christ that this man didn’t walk off that bus, because if this man did he would be dead right now,” McGregor said, referring to the bus incident in April where he threw a steel dolly at a bus with Khabib inside, injuring a few fighters and later being arrested.
Khabib Nurmagomedov didn’t seem rattled to the psychological warfare tactics that McGregor was trying to play. “I came here to smash this guy, I don’t want to talk,” he said.
Those words didn’t sit well with McGregor, when he got up instantly and had to be retrained by Dana White, yelling: “Smash me, smash me, I’m right here”.
McGregor went on to steal the show, but he’s never faced an opponent as skilled as Nurmagomedov.
October 6th, all the talking will end and one man will walk out the Octagon as the undisputed Lightweight Champion. Check out the full press conference in the video above.
