With sneakers being such a hot commodity, especially in high fashion, Vogue and its Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour have partnered with Nike for the first time to “edit” the iconic Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 3 silhouettes.
The collaboration consists of four models — a sail AJ1, university red AJ1, black tweed AJ3 and red tweed AJ3. Each features the script “AWOK”, which is familiar to Anna’s colleagues.
“When Anna Wintour gives her approval for editorial or creative, she simply writes ‘AWOK,’ which stands for ‘Anna Wintour Okay,’” says the press release. “The Vogue editor-in-chief teamed up with Jordan Brand to put this approval stamp on two iconic silhouettes for the ultimate co-sign.”
The AJ1s sports ultra-soft leather uppers, paired with metallic zippers and an “Edited by Vogue” Nike Air tag, along with the “AWOK” signature on the sole and tongue. The AJ3 editions sport tweed encasing and black heels, a nod to Anna’s signature Chanel tweed suits and sunglasses.
All the sneakers come in a premium box with two suede dust bags.
The AJ1 “High Zip AWOK” drops July 21 at Hirshleifers, Kith, Nordstrom x Nike and North America Jumpman stores (306 Yonge in Toronto and 32 South State in Chicago), as well as the SNKRS app on July 23 in North America. The AJ3 “AWOK” will be available September 7.
