Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested in New York City on Wednesday (July 11) on an outstanding warrant.
According to TMZ, the rapper was taken into custody at JFK Airport after landing following a European tour.
The warrant was issued in Texas, after a 16-year-old alleged that 6ix9ine choked him at Houston’s Galleria Mall in January. The alleged victim, Santiago Albarran, says he ran into the rapper at the mall on Jan. 6 and started recording him on his phone. But, when the rapper spotted him recording, he told him to delete the video before grabbing him by the neck as his bodyguards surrounded him.
Albarran would report the incident to cops, who documented the scratch marks on Albarran’s neck.
6ix9ine’s team was apparently aware of the arrest warrant and intended to deal with it soon, but believe the NYPD should not have arrested him or extradited him to Texas, due to the case being a misdemeanor.
