A few weeks after his death, more news about XXXTentacion is emerging. Apparently, before his death, he had just signed a massive record deal… worth $10 million.
According to the New York Times, the 20-year-old rapper was working out the details of a deal with indie music company Empire, who had given the rapper his first shot. While details were not divulged, the deal is reportedly valued at around $10 million for his third album.
Furthermore, Empire said XXXTentacion had already finished “a significant amount of material” for the album.
While X’s deal with Empire only covers his next album, his camp says he has a “deep archive” of unreleased material that his estate may license in the future.
Following his death in June, XXXTentacion’s album ? has climbed the charts, currently sitting at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, while his single “SAD!” became his first No. 1 hit.
His total audio and video streams are now at a whopping 4.6 billion, according to Nielsen.
