Since its astronomical launch in 2016, the hype surrounding Pokémon GO has cooled off. But, the community who still participates in capturing Pokémon is still pretty strong.
In fact, since July 2016, the popular mobile game has generated around $1.8 billion in revenues — coming out to nearly $1 billion a year, according to a Forbes report. Furthermore, the US and Japan alone contributed about $1.1 billion of that figure total, or around $2 million in revenue daily.
To put that number is perspective, $1.8 billion is more than any movie ever released has made, outside of the top 4 films ever: Titanic, Avatar, The Force Awakens and Avengers: Infinity War.
The report says that Pokémon GO is actually making a comeback to, as far as popularity. Thanks to features, new Pokémon and new events, the game is seeing more players than ever before, aside from its launch.
