Following the death of XXXTentacion, news of another tragic death has shaken the hip-hop community: Canadian rapper Smoke Dawg. He was just 21 years old.
According to reports, the young rapper and two others individuals were shot and killed on Saturday night (June 30) outside a nightclub in Toronto. All three victims were transported to a local hospital in critical condition, with Smoke Dawg passing shortly thereafter.
Smoke Dawg was on the rise in the music scene, building off the momentum of a collaboration with Skepta on “Overseas” and serving as Drake‘s opener during his “Boy Meets World” European tour.
Drake took to social media with a heartfelt message about the rapper’s passing.
“All these gifts and blessed souls and inner lights being extinguished lately is devastating,” wrote Drake. “I wish peace would wash over our city. So much talent and so many stories we never get to see play out. Rest up Smoke.”
