We participated in the adidas x Parley “Run for the Oceans” 5K recently in Temescal Gateway Park in Los Angeles, which brought together runners, ocean ambassadors, environmentalists, pro athletes and celebrities, all of whom helped inspire a positive change for the oceans.
As part of the program, Adidas contributes $1 to the Parley Ocean Plastic program for every kilometer ran using the Runtastic app, and this event was to celebrate the launch. From now until July 8, runners are able to log in their own miles at home using the Runtastic app and joining the global “Run for the Oceans” group.
Following our run, Adidas threw a concert with Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals rocking the stage for thousands in attendance. They were joined by Arizona Cardinals first-round draft pick Josh Rosen, singer Jhene Aiko and others who joined the runners in support of the cause. Additional special guests included 2016 WNBA MVP and four-time WNBA All-Star of the Los Angeles Sparks Nneka Ogwunike and teammate Chelsea Gray, plus adidas Global Ambassador, creator of Love Squad, fitness instructor and Brooklyn Nets host Ally Love, as well as LA native DJ SOSUPERSAM.
Fusing performance-oriented footwear technology with progressive eco-innovation, the limited adidas UltraBOOST Parley and UltraBOOST X features the brand’s energy-returning BOOST midsole and a 95% Parley Ocean Plastic Primeknit upper, which prevents around 11 plastic bottles from entering our oceans.
The sneakers are available now online and at select retailers for $200 USD.
