As Barbz anxiously await the release of Nicki Minaj’s fourth studio album, the femcee beast has been doing her fair share of promo for the project. Just last month, she dropped 2 new singles, “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz”, along with a candid interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. Since, she has announced the release date for her upcoming work, Queen, at the annual star-studded Met Gala. The Queens-bred rap star also performed “Chun-Li” and debuted a new song with Playboi Carti called “Poke It Out” on Saturday Night Live last weekend, while also revealing she’s working on a new movie with Tina Fey. With all of the buzz surrounding Nicki, there’s only one question left on everyone’s minds: Who will she collaborate with on the upcoming album?
Amidst the female power movement, where women are coming together to create bigger and better lives for ourselves, this brave unity is slowly but surely spilling over into the music industry as well. While Nicki has yet to give any details on who will be featured on her forthcoming work, it’s pretty clear that fans would love to see Barbie and Cardi B together on one undoubtedly fire track. Both rappers have larger than life characteristics that give their rhymes excitement and undeniable twerk-ability. Through fusing the Barbz and Bardi Gang, the two artists could finally join forces and give us all the collaboration of a lifetime.
Continuing in the spirit of girl’s rule the world, a joint effort with Normani Kordei would be greatly appreciated. The 21-year-old former Fifth Harmony member is one of the dopest new singers out and has recently become a solo artist. She is currently enjoying praise for her sexy and sultry Billboard Music Awards performance of “Love Lies” alongside Khalid. If anyone knows sexy, it’s Nicki Minaj, and if these two link up, there’s no telling how explosive the track will get… but we’ll take our chances.
Rich The Kid
Another feature we’d love to see is Rich The Kid. This pairing makes perfect sense, given the fact that Rich is a newer artist who has already managed to collab with a few big name acts, including Lil Wayne. The 25-year-old has also showed interest in working with Nicki, even going as far as using Twitter to enlist the help of the Barbz, along with a ton of purple unicorns, to sway her in his direction. It seems as though Rich The Kid has something to offer Barbie, and we’d love to hear it.
Fingers crossed that we get some or all of the collaborations we’ve dreamed of from Nicki Minaj come this June, but we’re not worried. Whoever Nicki decides to bless with a guest feature spot on her upcoming album will definitely be deserving of the honor.
Queen is set to drop next month on June 15.
