Just nine days after its release, Avengers: Infinity War is moments away from passing the $1 billion mark.
According to Deadline, Infinity War reached $905.1 million in worldwide sales late Thursday (May 3) and would surpass the $1 billion mark by Saturday (May 5). Either way, that will be the quickest any film has reached the box office mark.
A huge push came from Russia, when it’s Thursday (May 3) opening made a whopping $4.9 million. Not only was this the country’s biggest debut day of all time, but the first movie ever to sell more than 1 million tickets in a single day. Other nations leading in the international box office include the UK ($53.7M), Korea ($53.1M), Mexico ($39.9M), Brazil ($33.5M), and India ($30.1M). The film is projected to premiere in China sometime next week, which will surely boost numbers to a new level.
Marvel’s Black Panther remains at $1.3 billion, but with its current global ratings, it may not be long until Avengers: Infinity War catches up.
