J. Cole made a huge splash with his new LP, KOD, breaking two major streaming records.
According to reports, the album has shattered the 24-hour streaming records on both Apple Music and Spotify. In the first 24 hours, KOD was streamed 64.5 million times on Apple Music; and over 36.6 million streams on Spotify.

The numbers also point to the growth of music streaming. Back in 2016, upon the release of Drake’s Views, Apple Music had just 13 million paying subscribers. Now, the service boasts 71 million paying users.
Additionally, the title track for Cole’s album, “KOD”, broke Spotify’s opening day record for streams in the U.S., racking more 4.2 million streams in 24 hours, beating out Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.”
KOD is expected to top the Billboard 200 in its opening week.
