Actor Verne Troyer has died at the age of 49 years old.
According to a statement from his family (via TMZ), Verne passed away on Saturday (April 21), after being placed on life support earlier this month.
Details aren’t clear, but apparently, he was hospitalized after cops were called because Verne was drunk and suicidal, and treated for possible alcohol poisoning.
Troyer is best known for playing the character Mini-Me from the Austin Powers comedy film series, and for being one of the shortest men in the world.
Despite his success, Verne struggled with alcoholism for years and has even gone through multiple stints of rehab.
Troyer was born with the genetic disorder known as achondroplasia dwarfism. He stood just 2-foot, 8-inches.
