Globally known DJ and producer Avicii has died at age 28.
According to multiple reports, the Swedish DJ (born Tim Bergling) was found dead on Friday (April 20) in the Middle Eastern country of Oman.
His publicist issued a statement confirming the news. “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” the statement red. “He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
Avicii has had health scares in the past, dealing with acute pancreatitis in 2012, due to excessive drinking. He also had his appendix and gallbladder removed in 2014, which eventually led to his retirement from live performances in 2016, he told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.
