All good things come to an end… even Comedy Central’s Broad City series.

According to Deadline, Season 5 will be the last for Ilana and Abbi’s shenanigans. Thankfully, it won’t be the end for the showrunning/acting/directing/producing pair that is Ilana Glazer and Abbi Johnson in real life.

The two are in the middle of the “First-Look” deal Comedy Central announced before the premiere of Season 3. The deal secures a “first look” from Comedy Central on any projects created by the pair individually or together, and so far, there are already two Glazer-Johnson projects down the pipeline for the network.

Although Broad City’s end is bittersweet, it is not a result of the network; Glazer and Johnson made the call to move on to other projects. Johnson is currently working on a reboot of the 90’s classic A League of Their Own for Amazon. Glazer’s hands are full as well, working on one of her new Comedy Central shows, Platinum Status, written and starring her brother Eliot.

Broad City’s performance is indisputable, though. It broke ground as one of the two female-led series on the networks and has reached both critical and commercial success. It’s safe to say Comedy Central will be keeping a close eye on these two for hits to come.
