Adidas has partnered with Parley once again to give us five new silhouettes in their eco-friendly line.

These new designs are apart of the “Parley for the Oceans” initiative, aimed at stopping plastic waste before it has a chance to enter the ocean. Thanks to specific designs made from 85% Parley Ocean Plastic, each pair of shoes prevents 11 bottles from entering the ocean. The partnership is already making drastic progress — just last year, they sold over 1 million pairs with Parley.

The collection consists of new editions of the UltraBOOST, Adizero Prime Boost, and the AlphaBOUNCE for men and UltraBOOST X or AlphaBOUNCE for women. Each pair pays homage to the sea by following a blue, white, and black colorway, while the midsoles are made with sustainable materials designed for comfort and soles with Continental rubber made of natural materials.

FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc ter Steger proudly partnered with Adidas for the special edition UltraBOOST model. “I live by the sea and try to spend as much time as possible there. When I first learned about the Adidas and Parley partnership, I immediately connected with it,” he said. “I want to help change our environment through an initiative I believe in. I’m proud to partner with adidas Running and Parley to create awareness for the beauty of our oceans and work on projects that can stop their destruction.”

The limited release sneakers also come equipped with a NFC chip, accessible via smart phone, in the right shoe to provide users with an exclusive learning experience about plastic pollution.

You can show your support for the eco-friendly initiative by participating in the second annual global “Run for the Oceans”, hosted by Adidas Running, between June 8 and July 8.

The UltraBOOST and UltraBOOST X will be dropping in limited supply instore and online on April 16.
