A day before UFC 223 hits Barclays Center on Saturday night (April 7), one of the headliners has been pulled again.
After Tony Ferguson had to withdraw from the headlining fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, due to injury, featherweight champion Max Holloway was named his replacement for the lightweight title.
Well, Holloway has been declared medically unfit to fight… and is now off the card as well.
So, on last minute notice, Al Iaquinta has been named Holloway’s replacement.
While Khabib (25-0) is still eligible to win the undisputed title, Iaquinta is not because he did not weigh in at 155 pounds (he came in at 155.2) on Friday morning (April 6).
Because Holloway (19-3) had accepted the bout on six days’ notice, he couldn’t safely make the 155-pound limit.
WOW what a week. Thank you Ragin Al for demanding this fight and thank u Khabib for being willing to fight ANYONE all week!!! pic.twitter.com/oDqC30FdES

UFC 223 was set to be one of the promotions best lineups of the year, but it has had a number of hiccups.
Lightweight Michael Chiesa and flyweight Ray Borg were forced to withdraw from their respective bouts because of injuries sustained during an attack on their bus by UFC star Conor McGregor… who was ultimately arrested and released on $50,000 bond Friday after a brief arraignment.
Featherweight Artem Lobov, who is a teammate and close friend of McGregor, was also pulled from the card because of his involvement in the McGregor incident.
Still, the co-headliner is highly anticipated. Rose Namajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk will fight in a rematch for the strawweight title.
