Free agent quarterback has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Chargers on a one-year deal, reports ESPN.

The former New York Jets and Giants QB is coming off a one-year deal with the Giants last season, which he signed for less than $2 million for the backup spot behind Eli Manning.

Smith made one start last week, during a Week 13 loss against the Oakland Raiders. He 212 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions (but two lost fumbles).

The 27-year-old has had a rough career thus far, after being chosen in the second round by the Jets in 2013. He had four rocky seasons with the team, two of which he was a full-time starter. One of the most memorable moments, unfortunately, was when he suffered a broken jaw, after being punched by then-teammate IK Enemkpali in the locker room.

In five seasons, Smith has started 31 games and thrown 29 touchdown passes and 36 interceptions.
