Nike is taking their Flyknit game a step further, and it’s great news for athletes.
The original Flyknit technology found Nike knitting a flat upper, which is then attached to a midsole to create the shape of the shoe. The next generation of Flyknit features an upper made in a complete 360-degree form around the foot, designed to keep athletes more secure and controlled during activity. Ultimately, this will provide the athlete with more agility and quickness.
These new designs — now featured in basketball, running, and football — are being constructed with new, advanced technology that allows engineers to mimic exact forms and shape of the foot. For athletes, this means a more breathable shoe that offers a lighter feel yet more supportive design.
Along with a design that is better for the foot, the new Nike Flyknit is also better for the environment. Thanks to its precise engineering and years of perfecting, the new shoes designed to the stitch, which produces 60 percent less waste than cut-and-sew methods.
The new Nike Flyknit will be used in new models, such as the Kobe NXT 360, Free RN Motion 360, Mercurial Superfly 360, and the Mercurial Vapor 360, among others.
