DMX had his day in court recently, and has been sentenced to a year in prison for tax evasion, reports TMZ.
The rap veteran was originally charged with 14 counts of tax evasion last summer for allegedly concealing his income for years. He reportedly owed around $1.7 million in unpaid taxes.
In November, DMX (born Earl Simmons) struck a deal and pled guilty one count of tax evasion. He was facing five years in prison on the single count, and before that, originally faced more than 40 years on all 14 counts.
While addressing the judge on Wednesday (March 28), DMX admitted wrongdoing. “I wasn’t following the rules. I was in a cloud,” he said.
