Snoop Dogg continues to shake foundations and further extend his legacy. His 16th and first gospel album, Bible of Love , was recently released. And, has officially debuted at No. 1!
Released Friday (March 16), the project is No. 1 on both Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and Nielsen SoundScan’s Gospel Total Consumption chart. The records don’t end there. Snoopy D-O-double-G’s project is No. 2 on both Billboard’s Top 200 Christian & Gospel chart, and SoundScan’s Christian/Gospel Digital Album chart.
Also, Bible of Love has reached over 3 million streams in its first week, surpassing the previous record for a gospel album! The double album features talents of so many widely recognized gospel artists and R&B artists, including Marvin Sapp, The Clark Sisters, Kim Burrell, Tye Tribbett, Faith Evans, John P. Kee, Patti Labelle, Mali Music, Charlie Wilson and more!
The 32-track album showcases these various artists’ talents and exposes those who may have never before heard gospel music. The Associated Press says that the album acts as an umbrella that contains various flavors, while placing light on gospel music.
“Bible of Love” doesn’t just showcase talented gospel artists. It also shows off an elastic, big-tent version of the musical genre that can include flavors of soul, blues and R&B. Adding rap makes perfect sense. For that we should all praise the Dogg.”
CCM Magazine shares this of the album: a “real, take-you-to-church affair that will have you checking to make sure you’ve got your robe on right or tie tied tight just a few movements into the thirty-two track, double-disc set.”
Whether hosting a cooking show with Martha Stewart, changing his sound to reach the new generation, or even dropping his first gospel album, Snoop continues to show the world that he can literally do whatever he puts his mind to!
