Comedian Jess Hilarious just announced via Instagram that she will be starring opposite actor/comedian Lil Rel Howery (Get Out) in a new Fox sitcom.
“FEMALE LEAD ROLE IN NEW FOX SITCOM,” she wrote.
The upcoming show, titled Rel, also brings aboard Jerrod Carmichael (The Carmichael Show) and Mike Scully as executive producers.
Jess was chosen to replace Angel Laketa Moore, who was originally cast in the role. The decision to recast came after the pilot’s table read.
Josh Rabinowitz, Kevin Barnett and Howery serve as writers/executive producers for the project, which is based on Howery’s real life. It will focus on Lil’ Rel, a proud, self-made success whose mantra is to “always believe in yourself and great things will come.” When he learns that his wife and barber are having an affair, his beliefs are put to the test. Now, as a newly divorced single father, he must rebuild his life on the West Side of Chicago while searching for love, respect, and a new barber.
Jess will play the role of Tiffany, Rel’s supportive, kind, and driven best friend.
