As summer approaches, one thing you can always count on are tons of music festivals, with a star-studded lineup.
This year, Broccoli City and Live Nation Urban join forces to present the sixth annual Broccoli City Festival, featuring headlining performances from Cardi B, Migos, Miguel, and many more.
Set for April 28, the event will take place at the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds in Washington, D.C.
Live Nation Urban was first launched last May, under the direction of Shawn Gee, manager of The Roots and Jill Scott. This event marks the company’s first partnership with the independent production since Gee’s induction, with the promise to deliver quality content to the genre’s underserved audience.
“I’ve personally been tracking the growth of Broccoli City over the past few years,” said Gee in a statement. “The work that [co-founders Brandon McEachern and Marcus Allen] have done with the brand, not only building a festival but at the same time engaging and empowering the community, is amazing. We are looking forward to working with them to help further build out the vision and scale the brand.”
Prior to the event, the second annual Broccoli City Week seven-day incubator will commence, focusing on community and providing a platform for socio-political consciousness with activities including 5K city runs, action events and an all-night art escape in preparation of the festival.
“We realize how important it is to keep this event alive,” said McEachern in a statement. “We know people who may never make it to a Coachella, or any of the mainstream festivals. But they will always have Broccoli City. We do this for the community first.”
