It looks like Facebook is attempting to jump into the live streaming arena to take on Twitch and Youtube for gamers.
The company announced this week its new development kit to make PC games easier to stream live.
Building off Facebook’s Live service, the social media platform plans to offer a partnership program to allow pro streamers to monetize their live streams.
Users will be able to stream directly on Facebook, without the use of third-party software, which is currently needed to perform the same task.
Since 2016, Facebook has allowed Blizzard games like Overwatch to stream directly via Live. But now, Facebook’s new kit will build upon this for further streaming of PC games.
Furthermore, Facebook will launch a rewards system to grant in-game perks and other benefits exclusively to Live viewers.
