It’s still unclear when official news of the PlayStation 5 will surface, but some details have emerged.
Info from a recent U.S. patent filed by Sony suggests that the company may plan to make the PS5 backward compatible with PS4 games.
In the patent, which was updated on February 13, it says: “Backward compatibility testing of software in a mode that disrupts timing.”
Now, this isn’t a confirmation at the next-gen PlayStation console will feature backward compatibility, it does suggest that Sony has been testing the feature… for potential use. Maybe for the PS5?
Currently, the PS4 does not feature backward compatibility for older titles on previous consoles.
