Hybrid NYC artist Zak Downtown returns with a new video for his latest single, “Element”, which he premieres exclusively here at BallerStatus.com.

Shot in and round Idaho, the rapper is literally out of his “element”, as he rides atop a jeep on the countryside and around rural neighborhoods.

“We shot the ‘Element’ video on a whim in Boise, Idaho,” Zak says of the video. “I had just played Life in Color with Diplo, so had my homies Jackson and Anthony and all their camera equipment. My guy Hermes took us out to some crazy mountains to shoot guns and when I saw the landscape we just started freestyling some shots and developed the concept as we went along.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Zak Downtown, the rapper has a unique “blend of classic New York style, pop, trap and even dance music,” according to his bio. In 2015, he rolled out his debut single, “Kylie Kendall”, which amassed 10 million streams across Soundcloud and Spotify … all independently. He followed with “Zones”, which then garnered three million streams in six months.

This year, Zak is prepping a full-length project, which is expected this fall, coinciding with his first nationwide tour.

For now, watch the video for “Element” up top, and/or cop it at digital retailers here.
