Though they’ve been fighting in court for over three years, Birdman is claiming that Lil Wayne’s long-delayed Tha Carter V is coming out this year.
In a recent interview with Rap-Up, the hip-hop mogul made the guarantee that the album is dropping “this year” and evan said he’s heard a “few” songs off the album.
“He is the best ever to me. A lot of success comes from under his umbrella,” Birdman said, before calling it one of the “biggest” albums of 2018. “It’s gonna’ be well worth the wait.”
Back in December 2014, Lil Wayne shocked the world when he took to social media and blasted his longtime label Cash Money Records. In a series of tweets, he claimed Birdman and Cash Money were refusing to release the project… and said he even feels like “a prisoner.”
“I am a prisoner and so is my creativity,” he concluded. “Again,I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u”
After the initial revelation, Wayne filed a $51 million lawsuit against Cash Money, which we assume has not been resolved.
Birdman has not announced a release date for Tha Carter V yet.
