Actress Tiffany Haddish has made herself a hot commodity with the success of Girl’s Trip and her recent comedy tour, and now she’s set to star in DC Comics drama film The Kitchen, reports Deadline.
The movie is based on the Vertigo/DC comic of the same name, created by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle. It focuses on the wives of three Irish mobsters who assume responsibility for their husband’s businesses after they are arrested by the FBI. Set in the 1970’s New York City, the three women lead ruthless dealings and end up running the business with a stronger arm than their husbands.
Haddish will work alongside the comedienne Melissa McCarthy — both playing wives. There have been no reports yet on who will play the third wife.
The Kitchen is a New Line Cinema and DC Entertainment crime adaptation. Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) will serve as the film’s writer, as well as debut in the role of director, while Michael De Luca will produce the project.
