On a recent trip to Miami, Drake dropped close to $200,000, but not for reasons you may suspect.
The rap star began his week by first making a surprise appearance at Miami Senior High on Monday (Feb. 5) to film parts of the music video for his hit single “God’s Plan.”
In a video posted to Twitter, Drake is seen performing atop of a crane, while a drone records and students below go wild.

On his way out, Drake presented the school with a $25,000 check and promised to help design new school uniforms made by his clothing line, OVO.
That same day, he made his way to Miami University and presented student Destiny James with a $50,000 scholarship check. She explained on social media that she recently wrote an essay on the importance of scholarship donors.

This happened today. I applied to scholarships last year for which I had to write an essay. I received those scholarships and thought that was the end of it. Apparently, my essay and my story made it to other departments. I was contacted this weekend about doing a video speaking about where I come from, things I've been through, and why it is so important for scholarship donors to continue to donate. This was the surprise the whole time. Drake told me that he has read great things about me and appreciates how hard I've worked through so many trials and decided to give me $50K for my tuition. @champagnepapi THANK YOU SO MUCH!!' You don't understand what this means to me! I would've never imagined this happening to me. I'm just a girl from Denmark, SC that wants to MAKE IT and be somebody and for you to see my hard work means the world. Thank you so much. God I thank you. You are so great and amazing! Thank you for blessing me when I thought my hard work was going unnoticed. I'm living out my dreams. God's Plan 🙏🏾
Apparently, her essay landed in the right hands!
How nice of Drake, right? But that was only the beginning.
Drake continued his acts of kindess the next day (Feb. 6) by first stopping at a local grocery store, Sabor Tropical Supermarket, and paying for everyone’s groceries.
After he was done “shopping”, he visited Lotus House Women’s Shelter and presented yet another $50,000 check. It was also reported that the “Grammy winner handed out $150 Target gift cards to all 130 women who live at the shelter, and came equipped with toys and games for all 140 kids.”
Maybe the rapper is living up to “God’s Plan” after all!
Drake expressed his emotions after it all via Instagram.
