As suspense builds for the release of Marvel’s Black Panther movie, the film’s soundtrack, produced and curated by Kendrick Lamar, seems to be garnering some excitement of its own.
Lamar, along with his TDE labelmate SZA, appear in the stunning visual for “All the Stars”, which appears on Black Panther: The Album, and the internet is in a frenzy over the gorgeous display. Both artists play the focal point in a number of breathtaking backdrops that could only have been conjured up from the galaxy itself.
Directed by Dave Meyers and The Little Homies (consisting of Dave Free and Lamar), “All the Stars” features an all-black cast, with a look that perfectly correlates to the film’s fictional setting of Wakanda. Throughout the Afrofuturistic-designed world, Lamar spews a lyrical warning for those beguiled by a two-faced system in-between SZA’s breezy hook.
“I’ve been a massive Kendrick fan ever since I first heard him, since his mixtapes,” Black Panther director Ryan Coogler told NPR recently.
The video comes just one week after Lamar tweeted out the album’s tracklist, which will also feature contributions Future, 2 Chainz, Anderson .Paak, Vince Staples, and the rest of the TDE roster.
Black Panther: The Album drops Feb. 9 via Interscope Records, while the Black Panther movie hits theaters Feb. 16.
