At the Super Bowl LII Half Time Show on Sunday (Feb. 4), Justin Timberlake took over the stadium to perform.
During the show, the pop star paid homage to late pop icon Prince, who is a Minneapolis native. At one point, Timberlake walked onto a circular stage and sat at a piano alongside a large sheet-like banner, where a video of Prince was projected.

Leading up to Justin’s performance, there were rumors circulating that a hologram of Prince would be included, but that rumor was squashed shortly before the show.
Although Prince was not presented as a hologram, viewers believe it was pretty close, causing Timberlake to come under fire. Due to religious reasons, Prince always acknowledged that he did not want to be projected as a hologram in his after life. Additionally, Timberlake and Prince were also said to have feuded years back, so many did not agree with the collaboration.
This Prince hologram is str8 bullshit.
1. Prince called Holograms demonic and was totally against them.
2. Prince hated Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake totally disrespected & dismissed Prince when he was alive; yet, he includes footage of him in this halftime performance. This dude is the ultimate culture vulture and fake AF. #JanetsLegacyMatters #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay

Justin Timberlake is the only performer to be selected for the Super Bowl half time performance three times. His most infamous performance was the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction back in 2004.
Prince was also selected to perform at the Super Bowl in 2007.
