After 15 years of waiting, it’s official! Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will reunite for another installment of Bad Boys to complete the trilogy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has shown interest in making the third film and is in early negotiations with directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
Bad Boys for Life, the tenative title, will recruit the movie’s original producer Jerry Bruckheimer, with filming set to begin in August, reports Ebony.
The film franchise debuted in 1995. It follows the daily grind of Miami detectives Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Smith), who must travel lengths to bust high level crime operations. Both films were directed by Michael Bay and grossed a combined $414.7 million at the box office worldwide.
As for the television spin-off announced late last year to broadcast on NBC, Gabrielle Union is on-board to reprise her role from the 2003 sequel as DEA agent Syd Burnett, sister of Marcus Burnett, and one-time girlfriend of Mike Lowrey, Variety reports.
