Fat Joe has been in the game for some time now, and has proven that he reserves the right to speak his mind on all aspects of hip-hop, but he can still spark controversy.

During a recent interview on Ebro’s Beats 1 radio show, he was asked about Lil Uzi Vert and didn’t have the nicest things to say. In particular, he pointed to Uzi’s lack of originality, and referred to his style as a “bad version” of Lil Wayne, who he has often referred to as one of the G.O.A.T.’s. He also credits Wayne for inspiring the younger generation’s style.

“You hear all these little kids now, who doing hip-hop music, those is all Lil Wayne’s flows,” Fat Joe stated. “Every last one. Lil Uzi is a bad version of Lil Wayne. It’s not as good as Lil Wayne. I’mma just to be honest with you, and he’s good, and I like his songs.”

Though this critical lashing may be a bit harsh, Joe went on to say that he has “nothing but love” for Lil Uzi Vert, while revealing that he actually purchased Uzi’s Luv Is Rage 2 album, which he enjoyed. “I don’t want to take it disrespectful in no way, but Lil Wayne is Lil Wayne. That’s it,” Joe declared.
