Top Dawg Entertainment is following in the footsteps of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports, with the launch of its own sports division.
According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, TDE announced last week that the company has expanded into sports, and their first client will be former LSU running back Derrius Guice.

Stated in Rovell’s report, TDE’s new sports division will be led by Fadde Mikhail and ran out of the same office space as the record label in Los Angeles. Mikhail will now represent Guice in contract and marketing negotiations moving forward.
TDE founder Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith will not be working in the sports division, but Mikhail says he’s a huge fan and very familiar with it. “Top Dawg is a huge sports fan, and although he isn’t working in the business of sports, he is very familiar with it… He had a phenomenal vision to start this company and now is extending that into sports.”
Signing with one of the biggest names in music, Guice told ESPN how he is a big fan of Kendrick Lamar, and liked the idea of being the TDE’s first and only client. “The focus is on me and my game plan, not on a ton of other guys… They were the first guys who came to me, just like LSU was the first school to offer me a scholarship,” Guice said. “I didn’t forget that.”
2018 just started and TDE has already made many big moves, including executive producing the soundtrack for Marvel’s highly-anticipated Black Panther film out next month.
