PUMA continues its 50th anniversary celebration of the iconic PUMA Suede, with a collaborative capsule with 1990s brand FUBU.
The two streetwear legends collide for this “Suede 50” pack, which is loaded with velour and throwback swag.
“When we started FUBU we were very young. We were all looking for a way out. Not a way out of the hood, but a way,” recalls FUBU co-founder J Alexander Martin.
“We wanted to do something that we loved,” added co-founder Daymond John. “We were loving the world of hip-hop but we couldn’t dance or produce or make money rapping but we started to realize that there are other ways to be part of the culture.””
The collection pays tribute the iconic FUBU tracksuits and the Suede. The PUMA x FUBU Classic Suede sneaker — dropping in family sizing — takes on a black velour upper and red velour lining. Red velour piping outlines the black Formstripe and sits atop a thick, black rubber sole, while a red outsole adds a dash of flavor. Gold accents provide extra swagger, while a commemorative Suede 50 logo is featured in the tongue. Each shoe comes with three sets of laces (black, red, white) as well.
On the apparel side, the drop also includes PUMA x FUBU T7 Track Jacket and Pants, each sporting a 7cm red stripe on the sides in black velour. Both pieces feature a PUMA x FUBU satin twill applique and a “What Will Your Legacy Look Like” patch on the back.
A collaborative tee completes the collection, available for both men and women.
The PUMA x FUBU capsule collection drops Jan. 26 at Puma.com and select retailers worldwide.
