Garage-rocker Ty Segall sat down with Stereogum to discuss his latest album. But, the interesting part came when he revealed he hopes to create a hip-hop album with legendary producer Madlib.

The genre venture would be a change of pace for the performer, who made a name for himself in the independent music scene in San Francisco with his rock sound. Segall acknowledges that he would need Madlib’s expertise, due to his lack of experience within hip-hop.

“I really wanna make hip-hop music, but I don’t know how to use any of the tools. Electronic, computer skills, I don’t have those for engineering or making beats,” Segall explained.”I don’t know how to use a sampler well, I don’t know how to use any of these things. So, if Madlib happens to read this, hit me up, dude.”

The rocker also named Kool Keith, Wu-Tang Clan and A Tribe Called Quest as hip-hop artists he loves, as well as Madlib.

In the same interview, Segall revealed that he has moved to Los Angeles, which is also home to Madlib’s record label, Stones Throw Records. Maybe this will give him the opportunity to eventually collaborate with the acclaimed producer in the near future.
