Despite his successes in music, trouble lies ahead for Chris Brown, after posting about his pet monkey on social media.
Last month, the singer posted a very adorable video on Instagram of his daughter Royalty holding his pet baby monkey, Fiji, in her arms.
While some found the post to be extremely cute and harmless, others deemed it very irresponsible and dangerous for Brown to have an exotic animal around his 3-year-old daughter. Someone reported Brown to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Brown will not face any charges for having the monkey around Royalty, but could possibly face up to six months in jail for not having the proper documentation and permits to have the Capuchin monkey in his home.
According to TMZ, Brown was recently presented with a search warrant for the monkey, after which he relinquished Fiji to the authorities. His case has now been placed in the hands of the L.A. City Attorney.
Chris’ lawyer said: “As I leave my office in Downtown L.A. and walk past people sleeping on the street on my way to defend people charged by the City Attorney with selling medical marijuana … now spending taxpayer money on investigating monkey business, this completes the circle on his absurdity.”
There have been no further details about the case and whether or not Chris will go back to jail.
