Drake’s rise to the stardom will be chronicled in an upcoming documentary, titled Toronto To Houston, which is slated for release this summer.
The documentary, directed by MarQuis Trill, displays Drake’s connection to the city of Houston and how it helped influence and shape his hip-hop career.
“[Drake] credits Houston for the culture and the impact it had on him with launching his career – specifically on May 8, 2009, the show at Warehouse Live,” Trill stated in a social media post. Additionally, he says Drake’s annual Houston Appreciation Weekend, which began in 2013, had a major impact on the artist’s rise to fame.
The documentary is composed of year’s worth of live show recordings in the city, news updates and behind-the-scenes footage of the artist’s personal life. “Every concert, event, club, or appearance that happened in H-Town, I was there,” Trill explains.
It is unknown at the moment whether Drizzy is involved with the documentary himself. However, Trill says he plans to add Drake’s Toronto housewarming party as the final addition to the documentary.
