The East Coast has been battered by a powerful weather system that experts have called a “bomb cyclone”.
What the heck is a “bomb cyclone”? Otherwise known as bombogenesis, the “bomb” in the name refers to how fast the atmospheric pressure falls. Deep drops in barometric pressure occurs when a region of warm air meets one of cold air.
This weather system has dropped rain and snow, as well as high winds and frigid temperatures on several cities throughout the East Coast.
Here’s some incredible video of the bomb cyclone, filmed from space, via the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Stay safe out there and also warm.
