Following news that his parole date had been pushed up to Jan. 10, reports are saying that Kevin Gates is now set to be released from prison.
According to TMZ, the rapper will be released from an Illinois prison next Wednesday (Jan. 10) after serving nine months on a weapons charge.
A Illinois Department of Corrections rep said Gates’ “release conditions include mandatory supervision and no possession of firearms.” Furthermore, his parole discharge date has been pushed up to January 2019.
The rapper was sentenced in April 2017 to serve 30 months on a weapons charge, which came the same day he was set to be released after serving a 180-day sentence on a separate misdemeanor battery for kicking a woman in the chest during a concert.
Despite his incarceration, Gates managed to release new music, including a mixtape titled By Any Means 2 in September 2017, as well as a video for the single “What If.”
