Vandana Hart is a former UN advisor and professional dancer whose new Netflix show, “We Speak Dance”, drops worldwide on New Year’s Day. In anticipation of the show’s launch, she shared her favorite behind-the-scenes stories from filming with us.
Bali is dope. That’s why 80% of its economy comes from tourism. Ensconced in the world’s most pristine waters, the Indonesian island has been inhabited for 4,000 years. Vestiges of epochs past are everywhere, but there is more here than meets the eye. Vandana met a set of twins who have one foot in the past and one in the present.
Vandana was pleased to learn that the time capsule of the island is porous after they made a novel confession (in unison). She said, “When I asked the twins who their favorite musician was, at the same time with no hesitation they said, ‘Taylor Swift.’ They giggled and secretly told me that they like to practice their traditional dance to pop music of all kinds, combining new and old worlds.”
8,500 miles away from America, in the middle of the Indian ocean, Taylor Swift is still poppin’. And that’s why she has not one, but two private jets.
We Speak Dance was filmed across five different countries, including Lebanon, Vietnam, France, Nigeria and Indonesia. It premieres on Netflix on Jan. 1.
