With New Year’s Eve swiftly approaching, events of all kinds are already booked. Solange Knowles was scheduled to perform. However, she has now pulled out of a show in South Africa to bring in the New Year.
On social media, the singer announced that she will not be performing in the AfroPunk Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa, adding that her absence stems from an ongoing autonomic disorder, which she has been quietly battling for the past five months.
“The past five months I have been quietly treating, and working through an Autonomic Disorder. It’s been a journey that hasn’t been easy on me… Sometimes I feel cool, and other times not so cool at all…”
While there are various types of autonomic disorders, the singer did not reveal any details about the specific disorder she has been dealing with. However, Solange made sure to make it crystal clear that she will return with AfroPunk and that was immensely sorry to the people of South Africa for her absence.
” I give you my ABSOLUTE WORD I will come back with AfroPunk and deliver this performance…..as it is so extremely important to me to connect with the people who have so closely inspired me in so many ways,” she continued.
She ended her lengthy post thanking AfroPunk and all of the other festivals who knew about this health condition and continued to keep it confidential.
Fellow friend and AfroPunk performer, Anderson .Paak, took to Twitter to share his love and encouragement for his friend, wishing her a speedy recovery.
Sending out good vibes to my sister Solange. Get well soon, we love you.
