Despite 2017 being successful career-wise, the year has also been controversial for rising rapper XXXTentacion.
On Friday morning (Dec. 15), he was jailed after being charged with seven new felonies in his 2016 domestic violence case.
According to TMZ, the new charges include different degrees of witness tampering and witness harassment.
Prosecutors accuse the rapper of coercing his ex-girlfriend, who accused him of beating her. He was already facing charges of battery against a pregnant woman and false imprisonment.
In a previous testimony, XXXTentacion’s girlfriend said that he began “cohabitating” at a residence in North Miami in May 2016. In an incident shortly thereafter, X allegedly slapped the victim and broke her iPhone 6s for complimenting a male friend’s jewelry. Later that same day, she says he made her choose between “a barbecue pitchfork and a barbecue cleaner” being put inside her vagina.
In Friday’s hearing in Miami-Dade County, the judge said X had violated his bond from his first arrest and he was immediately sent to jail without bail.
XXXTentacion released his debut album 17 in August.
