Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball had his first meeting with childhood idol LeBron James on Thursday night (Dec. 14), when his team met the Cavaliers in Cleveland.
After the Cavs took the “W” 121-112, the two had a postgame conversation, which neither revealed to the media… but the internet found out what was said.
Apparently, LeBron told Zo to find “zone” and “stay locked in”, but don’t tell the media anything, calling it “white noise to you.”
A user on Reddit.com posted a transcript of the conversation heard through a foreign language feed of game, which ESPN also confirmed. “Find your zone and just stay f*cking locked in,” James said, while pulling his jersey over his lips on the court. “The media is going to ask you what I told you right now. Tell them nothing. Just be aggressive every single day. It’s white noise to you. That’s all it is. All right? Let’s go.”
When asked what was said, LeBron declined to reveal it. “None of y’all business,” he told reporters.
Ball said something similar, replying that James “didn’t tell me anything.”
Ball did, however, express what it was like playing against his childhood idol. “Watching him doesn’t do him justice,” he said. “It’s very hard to stop him with that size, that speed. That’s why I say he’s the best player in the world right now, and it’s hard to deal with.”
James finished with 25 points, 12 assists and 12 rebounds to tie Larry Bird for sixth place on the all-time triple-doubles list.
Ball posted 13 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds.
