If you thought the iPhone X was leaps and bounds better than any smartphone, think again. Reports are saying next year’s iPhone is gonna be even better.
According to a new investor research note obtained by AppleInsider (via Mashable), KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo said he believes the 2018 iPhone may support gigabit LTE, which would significantly speed up your internet upload and download speeds.
Kuo claims the next-gen iPhones will come with several upgrades to the antenna that will enable faster speeds, including “liquid crystal polymer” flexible circuit boards that will improve wireless reception.
The report also mentions that they might also feature four antennas (4×4 MIMO) to increase data throughput and download speeds. The latest iPhones — the iPhone X and iPhone 8 and 8 Plus — only contain two antennas (2×2 MIMO).
While it doesn’t seem like much, imagine your internet connection being much, much, much faster than you’re used to now.
Masable notes that gigabit LTE means tha downloads could be as fast as 1Gbps. So, a two-hour movie could be downloaded in 15 seconds, according to T-Mobile. Still, this would all depend on your network and carrier.
Would you want faster internet speed? Of course you would.
