Esports continuing to grow, so another gaming brand is announcing their own league.
This week, EA and the FIFA franchise announced that they are launching the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018, replicating the worldwide sporting event.
From November 2017 to July 2018, EA will launch a series of qualifying rounds where players will compete for an spot in the tournament. From there, the field will be narrowed down to the top 128 players of the game (half for PS4 and half for Xbox One), who will play in the FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs. Then, the ultimate stop on the Global Series Tour and FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final.
“In partnership with FIFA, we’re accelerating the growth of competitive gaming through the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series on The Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018, producing more competition, attracting more competitors and connecting with more fans than ever before,” said Todd Sitrin, SVP of Competitive Gaming Division at EA.
