UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping is being sued by a teen college student, who alleges he was choked by the UFC star during a gym altercation.
According to TMZ, 19-year-old Antonio Georgakopoulos, filed a lawsuit in Orange County earlier this week, accusing Bisping of battery, assault, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Apparently, the two got into a dispute at a 24 Hour Fitness back in July, during which Bisping allegedly confronted Georgakopoulos for taking his weights, calling him a “punk” and an “idiot.” The complaint does on to say that the UFC fighter extended his right arm to “squeeze [Georgakopoulos’] neck for two to three seconds.”
The Anaheim Police Department told ESPN that officers responded to the incident, but no arrest was made.
Furthermore, the city attorney’s office has already has reviewed the investigation and determined there was not enough evidence to support criminal charges.
So far, Bisping’s camp has not commented on the lawsuit.
In addition to the MMA fighter, Georgakopoulos has named the UFC and parent company WME-IMG, as well as 24 Hour Fitness, as defendants. Stay tuned for more info on the lawsuit.
Bisping is scheduled to defend his title against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217 on November 4 in New York.]
