Game 1 of the MLB World Series is in the books and gave us some truly iconic moments, including Justin Turner’s go-ahead two-run HR to spark a Dodgers 3-1 win over the Astros. With the series continuing, these moments have been captured and translated to art on Adidas cleats.
The brand is creating a series of custom cleats for the Dodgers’ Justin Turner and Astros’ Carlos Correa that will narrate the story of the World Series “From the Cleats Up” — live in Los Angeles and Houston.
Here are the inspiration details for the second set of cleats as Turner and Correa get ready to take the field for Game-2:
Justin Turner – The Dodgers took a 1-0 lead courtesy of a 382ft go-ahead two-run HR by Justin Turner – that moment is emblazoned onto cleats with the red beard with the tongue sticking out from the iconic photo of JT after his homer (see attached photo). After the game Turner posted a photo of the game with the caption calling dodger fans to get louder and get LIT tomorrow night and that has been narrated onto the cleats – “Get Loud. Get Louder. Get Lit.” Also – AROD called Justin “Redtober” on the post-game broadcast so that’s on the inside of the cleat.
Carlos Correa – Prior to the game, Carlos posted a photo of himself and all his teammates saying Squad Loose. On the other cleat you see Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve’s iconic handshake.
Adidas has partnered with local artists in each city, Chad Cantcolor in Los Angeles and David Maldonado in Houston, to narrate the story of the World Series on a custom cleat for each game of the World Series.
