Essential has announced that its slashing the price of its self-titled smartphone, the PH-1, just two months after its release.
After initially being sold at $699 USD, the company has dropped the price $200 USD, down to $499 USD.
According to the company, the decision was made in lieu of “a massive TV campaign to capture your attention”.
“We think making it easier for people to get their hands on our first products is a better way to get to know us,” the company said on its blog.
For customers who paid the full $699 USD, Essential is offering a $200 Essential Store “friends & family code” to be used towards the purchase of another phone or a module. The only current module available is the 360 camera.
The Essential PH-1 is available in Black Moon or Pure White at the brand’s online store for $499 USD, with the 360 Camera going for $199 USD. It is compatible with all major carriers, but exclusively sold via Sprint stores nationwide, on BestBuy.com and Amazon.com.
