Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant were ejected during the team’s 111-101 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night (Oct. 21).
The ejection took place with under a minute to go, when Curry drove in for a layup and took contact, but there was no foul. He was upset and threw his mouthpiece on the court in the direction of official Scott Wall, who immediately tossed from the game.
Durant rushed over to Wall and exchanged words with the official and was ejected as well.
It was the first time Curry was thrown from a regular season game.
After the game, Curry told ESPN that didn’t throw his mouthpiece at the ref. “I didn’t throw my mouthpiece at the ref,” he said. “I got better aim than that. I threw it out of frustration.”
“That last play, I thought I got fouled, and my frustration boiled over,” Curry continued. “I did something stupid. I deserved to get kicked out, and that’s what happened. Obviously, I’ll learn from it and try not to do it again.”
“I felt Steph got fouled on that drive, and I let [Wall] know about it, and he threw me out,” KD added.
No excuse for that! Gotta remember who I am playing for…
